Push animal res to client preemptively

Postby wafflecat » Thu Jan 12, 2017 4:21 pm

Due to recent cases happening to me and other people (see here), and due to the future implementations of aggressive animals (wolves and maybe more?), I suggest pushing the res files of these types of things to the client before the player even observes the animal.
I know this sounds a bit redundant, but it will prevent a lot of useless deaths. Dying by your own mistakes, whatever, but dying because you didn't have a chance to know you're in danger, that's a problem.

Just visited another forum where walruses discussed how easy it was to kill players being invisible while some of them thought it's a cheesy tactic not worth a real walrus. Guess it's gonna be quite a nerdrage about them being nerfed if your idea is implemented... ;)

But on a more serious note, makes sense.
Too old to rock-n-roll, too young to die.

Fully agreed. Technical issues should not lead to death.

Slowdown in combat situation is very not good.

But where's the fun in that?
