Tree Trunks

One thing I really enjoy about this game is finding random items. Beach washup is great, fishing is interesting.

An idea would be a system similar to stuff dropped in water can be found via fishing but on land
Stuff that is dropped on land and decays could be found in tree stumps and logs.

I was only talking about this earlier with Sarge and yeah, would be nice to find things in them like in salem. :)

I'm not sure about any item that decays. I have always thought they should have a reasonable chance of spawning mushrooms, grubs, and other forest-decay related items.
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.

make the thing that grow biome dependant, drop something in woods annd in random place in the area a shroom will soon grow, drop something on beach after looooong time it turns into a curio (rusty sword, or sun weathered cloak stuff like that )

Yes, finding stuff in stomps was one of my favorite parts of foraging in Salem. Especially when I was finding something cool like earthworm pythons or indian feathers.
I would really love to see something like that in HnH. (It'd be cool if this mechanic had something unique that you can obtain only in such way)

That would be a nice option.

Apparently grubs have a very, very tiny chance to spawn in stumps and hollow logs. It's so rare it's practically negligible, though.

can confirm. I often check stumps/logs for the hell of it. I once found a grub in a stump. truly a great day it was.

so the main reason this cant be implemented is that people would farm mirkwood logs, using them as little grub/mushroom/trash factories.

my main contention is that only mirkwood stumps should spawn grubs/mushrooms/trash, not the logs. that way you cant hoard them.

I think in Salem they spawn stuff once in a while, but it is quite rare and I havent heard of anyone complaining that this would be gamebreaking when hoarding logs. It'd still spawn 10q stuff. Also, prolly it'd make sense if they wouldn't spawn anything on claims.

I enjoyed this mechanic in salem, but when people were farming rotting logs just for the spawns, that seemed whack.
