Sharpening stone

Let us increase our sword's damage by sharpening them.
They will gain dullness on use resulting in decreased dmg by %, and you will have to sharpen them to restore them to their former glory.
But of course quality will go down with each sharpening as you will have less of a sword each time.

Idea is not to increase dmg but of swords.
But instead to decrease it when they are used.
And then increase them back to their previous glory.
Did you even read the OP?

A sharpening stone would be fun to have for the using-and-shooting-sparks-animation alone.
