Yep, I agree.
But it's sort of inline with the mining changes. Now while mining you can't aim for a "generally high q area" and start searching for ore there. You have to (almost) mindlessly dig everywhere around as each mineral follows it's own q fields and even those change quite rapidly so you have to touch every frigging vein to know it's q. Same with animals now - kill, butcher, repeat...
So, it seems the grand idea is to slower down progress to high q (which in theory is a good thing) by making the process more grindy and less fun (which is bad).
