Give back inspect on wild animals, dead ones

Postby MusicWarrior » Thu Jan 26, 2017 10:26 am

I've always felt like checking animal ql before killing it was a little bit dumb, but why we can't have its ql after death? Overall its already ours. It's pain in huge villages where there's olny one butchering guy. Before people could check ql of animals and if it was enough low - butcher it on their own (leaving the rest for high surv char). Now butchering guy has to butcher everything which is a lot of work in bigger villages. Please give back inspect on wild animals, but dead ones, keep it turned off for alive ones.

What does this add? It's just an anti QoL feature.

This.

As it currently is we'll just start to fill up the world with (partly, in case of more than one hide) skinned animals.

Seriously, what's the point of removing inspect on animals?

I agree that this is a completely uncalled-for change. Unless it's some preparation for some major hunting overhaul, in which case i dont't see why this shouldn't be released along with it.

It just makes getting hql things harder which is fine for me. Instead of walking in cave with bat cape and inspecting bats to find a nice ql node I would need to kill them firstly which means getting wounds and that also takes time. Not to mention checking ql of mammoths or trolls. If troll ql would be shitty bad I wouldn't mind killing it with alts and ql 5 arrows. If I can't check its ql then I wouldn't risk 5 ql arrows hoping that I didn't fuck up 300 ql troll.

Also because of no-inspect on dead animals I need to wear on my gilded eq and good axe every time i want to butcher, before i was just checking ql of dead animal and if it was fine then with my base survival and sword I was butchering them.

Yep, I agree.

But it's sort of inline with the mining changes. Now while mining you can't aim for a "generally high q area" and start searching for ore there. You have to (almost) mindlessly dig everywhere around as each mineral follows it's own q fields and even those change quite rapidly so you have to touch every frigging vein to know it's q. Same with animals now - kill, butcher, repeat...

So, it seems the grand idea is to slower down progress to high q (which in theory is a good thing) by making the process more grindy and less fun (which is bad). :(
