there are a number of uses for tree sap, and its pretty easy to set up a jimmy rigged tap (quick smack with an axe and a branch stuffed in hole with container at bottom of stick for collection) (2 liters a day from a maple is avg)
theres also metal taps that allow bigger volume of sap to be collected at a faster pace (copper tap mabye kills tree after a few days)
theres also limit a tree can be "tapped" if over done a trees death often follows (30-60 liters can be drawn from one tree a year on avg) (mabye a dead tree can be added when choped leaves murkwood logs)
Birch tree juice
some say its better then water
Torches
sap on a branch
Glue/Epoxy – Pine Pitch (mabye can sub for bone glue in some crafts?)
Hafting arrowheads, fletching arrows and gluing other primitive tools and weapons.
Waterproof boot seams, canoes, and containers.
Patch holes in tents and tarps.
Pretty much any thing you need to glue or patch in the woods, pine pitch is the product
