Bridge discussion (I'm not asking for bridges don't ban me)

We know people have wanted bridges for the entire history of this game. Many of the things we've wanted for a long time are starting to be added, but it seems bridges will never be added, or at least not for a while.
So, we come here to discuss that.
Here are my questions on the topic. You guys can ask whatever you'd like, and we can discuss it.

1) Are bridges hard to program? Would it be too hard to make them simultaneously walkable and boatable? Or is it too hard to have a two-layered tile?
2) Have Jorb and Loftar just never settled on how they'd be implemented (i.e. are they a building with a specific length? Or maybe you lay them down like bridges in Banished? So many possibilities!)
3) Do bridges just not fit in this kind of game? Are they unnecessary now that you can cross a small river with 10 con?
4) Will they be too abusable?
5) Hey, Jorb and Loftar, you should show us some of the code so we can try and make bridges possible ourselves!

The immediate purpose of this would be to allow for objects which can actually be walked upon, which could potentially allow us to do things like walk-on-walls, rafts that can actually be walked upon and onto, non-pocket world houses, and bridges. It is a significant project, so it might be more than one week in the making. I'm not 100% that we'll go for this next week, but we want to do it at some point in the not too distant future, mostly because it seems like one of the more significant level ups we can give the game, but also because it is foundational enough that plenty of things could potentially come to depend on it, so it'd be nice to have out of the way.

Been "in the works" for a while.

He even linked the thread with that exact thing that jorb said.
