Picking up crabs or hedgehogs with steel gloves should not damage you.

No.

They might ive a lower chance for injury but should not make immune.

Also what are grabs?

Pretty sure he meant "crabs". It's pretty intuitive considering them and hedgehogs are the only animals that hurt you when you pick them up.
