Combat move farming has to stop

Postby razfen » Mon Jan 30, 2017 9:04 pm

I keep finding massive piles of boar and fox corpses on my foraging trips, which, although i don't mind, is absolutely wasteful, since these animals are not hunted for food, but for the slight chance of getting a combat move. How about we discuss what could be done about it?

Several options are available:

-Put back the legacy "buy it and you have it" style
-How about quests rewarding combat moves occasionally?
-How about you make combat moves teachable (if someone has a combat move, he can teach it to other players through sparring for instance)?

Please, if anyone has better opinions, share it.

People are finally leaving their walls to do stuff outside and you're suggesting to put them back in? With the exception of quests, it doesn't sound like a positive change to me.

I love the idea of getting special combat moves (especially defenses) from quests.
I've thought there must be a better way to get Combat Moves than fighting animals, but I'll be buggered if I can think of something that doesn't stuff people back in their walls.

Though it is tempting to have combat moves all be taught by quests, and involve engaging in combat against an equally matched 'Spirit of War' that is wearing all the same gear as you are. Further, this should be a time-gated thing (per move), and the location of the spirit should change and the quest not able to be abandoned, or at least have as much of a cooldown as if you'd fought the spirit. Victory against the spirit rewards you with 'Lesson Learned'.

The spirit would be incapable of killing its student, but could very well leave them beaten to a fell-slashed, wretched gored, deep cut mess of their former selves. The spirit dissipates and a new one must be found before training can begin again. There should be a cool-down between fighting one spirit and the next.

Making combat moves teachable should be not even a consider. People just would make an alt to teach pass all moves onto, so that alt later can pass those moves back.

Combat moves are currently only most valuable stuff glued to character and that's biggest lost when You die, if You have them.
Getting some from quest is neat a bit.

Also:

I find a couple of people collecting those (especially newbies) as this is helping them develop a bit faster. This is haven and resources like this, especially at times like this, mostly never go wasted. (yet.)
