Claiming localised resources

Postby Luesal » Sun Feb 05, 2017 5:26 pm

Is that okey, that we can not claim localised resources with normal claim, but can claim it using village claim?

I can accept sieging unclaimed wall, but sieging village claim? Actions should be taken now, not in the next world.

Nope, the little nig is right, mountain resources are a fucking joke right now.
I imagine the whole point of mountains being rich with resources was to create a situation that were present in the first 3 weeks or so of the game. To make it so you have a choice, do you risk going up there to try grab that ice/salt for yourself, which 9 times out of 10 would result in a fight because other people have that very same idea, or do you give up on contesting it because it's not worth it?
Well now there is no choice. Now just about every salt / ice node that can be palisaded and claimed on mountains has been. Now the people who have palisaded them off don't even need to risk anything themselves, they can simply log their alt who is inside the pali on when the time comes and pick the resources in complete safety.
The people that had the choice of "Shall I go or not" are now simply left with "lmao no point, even if I go that shit is walled off anyway".

Oh and don't even bring up something as retarded as sieging. Mountains by their very nature are places you want to spend as little amount of time as possible on, unless you're actively looking for trouble. Nobody, and I mean nobody are going to sit there and siege a single pali'd up resource on a mountain of all places. That is suicide. The people who claimed all of those resources are one and the same too.

I also agree that something should be done about it near immediately too, because as it stands this world is as worthless as the last already because of the state mountains are already in. It would take jorb quite literally 10 minutes at most to go around and nuke every claim and pali over a MOUNTAIN resource. Then simply make it so that you cannot build on mountains. Period.

Tada, I've fixed the problem, but nah nothing will be done about this anyway, jorb is too scared of upsetting the enormous village which he actually thinks will quit if he did that. Spoiler - They wouldn't
Literally no need to wait until next world to fix such a dumb as fuck thing.

By the way, this change still wouldn't mean random hermits could pick salt or anything, they'd still no doubt die unless they got lucky. What it would mean however is more mountain fights over said resources because I've ran around mountains a few times now when localized resources are up recently and they're fucking deserted because the fuckers who have pali'd everything up can take their sweet time to grab that shit at their leisure. At least they had to send kill squads and put some effort in and be there as soon as salt came up before all of this crap happened.

J&L need to come up with a "maze" script.
Free entrance, and resources.
the last segment of a wall you put up will do a check.
if no entrance is found (a place with noting built on it to the edge of the map)
it destroys the pali
WARNING! MY ENGISH SUCKS.

why not just make it so that these resources are temporary and respawn randomly in different locations

Pretty sure I suggested that last world but nothing came of it. I'd be fine with that too. There's a fair few alternatives to what we have right now, and every single one of them would be better than the current situation.

to be fair, the ones in the water cant get palisaded, those are fine

and id say they are working as originally intended for the most part because ive had pvp twice at a salt node this world and RIP ended up having civil war over salt nodes, so its fair to say salt nodes are direclty creating pvp and drama!

btw if u were gonna drop a vclaim is foul smoke really the best thing to go for? :?

That was within the first 3 weeks though, as I said. Not much was really pali'd off then, but yes during that time that was what I'd call the intended intention of the resources. Now that isn't going to happen though.
Check out a mountain now. Out of the 13 salt nodes I've got mapped out on a mountain, 10 of them are pali'd The other 3 are located in an area where that's not really possible.
