Fish Size and Weight

Postby DaniAngione » Mon Feb 06, 2017 4:55 am

It's a simple idea :)

Mostly a cosmetic/flair addition, it would be really cool if every species of fish had a different range of Size and Weight stats that would be randomly generated upon fishing.

So when you hover your mouse over fish you could see something like:

Salmon
o Quality 24
18.2 lbs
21 in

Every species of fish would have their own size and weight ranges, with the smallest or largest 'ends' of the range being rarer.
This would allow for a lot of fun, pic sharing to see who gets the biggest fish, even social events with fishing contests and stuff like that.
Quality can't really be used for contests since it varies per region (and by species) so if everyone fishes in the same area they'll get the same quality for the same fish.

It's not really a relevant game change, but could add some very needed fun to fishing (and to the screenshots thread!) :D

And maybe a couple of new Experiences for getting very small or very big fish!
(And more specific requirements for the 'catch a big fish' quests ;) )

Maybe bigger fish give more meat but smaller fish give different stuff (like maybe fish oil if they add).

-1 for writing the weight in pounds and length in inches. Death to the imperial system.

It's already dead though. A few barbarous outliers hardly count as alive and well!

I actually think it would be a good idea, as another iteration of tri-quality system. And instead of having 3 of the same qualities on everything, to have various specific qualities on different types of items. So for fish you might have regular quality and size. You could apply this to, say, planted trees as well. We already have something similar for tamed animals - they have 3 qualities: quality, amount of meat, amount of milk.

Not even considering the units suggested, of course.

The fluid system does use metric.
