Timer on items that decay

It'd be nice to have a timer on mandrake roots and other items that decay over time.

Pretty sure they take decay ticks so decaying is random... However taking about decay ticks, snow will melt inward if you put it in a container, with the inner snow unaffected until the outside snow has melted. I wonder if you surround a decaying item with snow that it stops it's decay ticks? Preservation of Ageless Ice :D

Actually I think that all the time, it would be so much better esp when you have a few of the decaying items so as to keep track of which ones you need to use up in some way.

Have considered it several times, but not trivial to implement. Will look at it again, however.
