Food Storage and Decay

Postby Zentetsuken » Tue Feb 07, 2017 10:37 pm

I've seen some requests for stockpiles of things like meat, and also heard lots of ideas for how to deal with the insane amount of dirt stockpiles you get from leveling land. I've thought of a way to solve both of these problems (maybe), which could be paired with a new mechanic.

What if full dirt stockpiles could be crafted in to a sort of storage unit for meat and vegetables, much like a rock would be crafted in to a runestone. Maybe they are not movable after this, maybe they take more materials in the process too. The logic would be that creating a sort of cool, dry dirt-cellar-like storage unit would be good place for storing food.

This also had me thinking, that what if stuff like meat or veggies had a very slow and varying decay? Maybe meat and vegetables should be stored in cellars, caves or in special containers that aim to prevent this decay. This could lead to things like meat jerky's, glass-containers for preserves, or hurt-feps coming back from bad meat or other foods.

We have already gone over food decay mechanics and I'm sure a majority of players were against it.

And getting rid of dirt stockpiles is simple, just fill a dirt stockpile and bash it. *poof* no more dirt.
