During one of Jorb's famous JorbStreams™, he mentioned that surveying/landscaping could be a mechanic that should/could be improved upon:
I've thought about this idea a little bit, and thought i'd share it with you kind folks
Here's two ideas, semi related, but should mostly stand on their own.
1
when surveying land, instead of receiving soil usable for treeplanting etc., you would receive fill dirt.
using the dig action would result in regular dirt (maybe digging dirt this way wouldnt change ground level, like digging sand)
fill dirt can stack up to 500 and has no purpose other than raising earth.
one fill dirt could be equal to 4 (maybe more, maybe less) dirt and would raise/lower the ground .X meters.
this would at least physically speed up the process by letting us dig more dirt with less work
2
change dirt/fill dirt into a weighted powder instead of an item. .1 meter of ground would equal .1kg of dirt.
dirt would stack up to .5kg and could be stored in buckets and barrels. in 10kg/100kg stacks.
treeplanters/garden pots already accept liquid, i dont see why it would be so hard to make it accept KGs of dirt instead.
This would at least let us physically hold more dirt, so we would have to have a dirt monkey run around and pick up dirt while another guy digs dirt.
