Nidbanes Reckoing the Respective Crime

Postby reexar77 » Thu Apr 20, 2017 11:28 am

Nidbanes can be summoned for diffrent reasons (crimes) but it would be awesome and really intresting to see them act out on the scent like Murder = it tries to kill you just like now , Theft = It steals gear and curiosities off the Hunted , Vandalism = it breaks stuff randomly nearby the heartfire of the hunted or maybe even damage a big portion of the claim shield on which the person has it's heartfire , at some point Battery = infflict some of the wounds you left on the victim :D  :D This idea seems pretty neat not to mention Nidbanes could get diffrent looks depending on the crime and also get diffrent Sizes depending on it's quality :D Also the Nidbanes could be scared of by building a effigy or something maybe even a special offering at the numen altar :D

Issue with "steal items": What happens if someone strips before logging?

Character wounds/death are the only guarenteed forms of punishment a nid can inflict.

Well everyone is gonna have a weapon in order to try to kill the nidbane.

I was thinking claim theft alts, but you're right that main characters will actually try to fight the nidbane. *ponders* I'm not sure I really care about claim theft alts. Native resources don't stay super relevant in the longterm anymore do they? But anyway, if theft nids don't deal HHP damage, theft alts would be even more useful. And... oh right quality hardcaps make those a decent investment, but it would be 100% re-usable.

This change has a lot of implications, just trying to work them all out.

I've never heard of anyone using theft alts anyway, theft nidbanes are a joke.

Theft alts are mostly used when smaller factions are stealing from bigger ones. It's more important when you're not confident you can defend a siege. My neighbour used one a couple days ago. The point is more not giving away your home base than it is to re-direct nidbanes.

Nidbanes could also try to steal back the stolen items

I like the concept, but I don't think it's practical given haven's nature. Much of what will be stolen can be used so it can't be taken back. Food, clay, etc.

Would be thematic, but I'm not going to invest more in them before they work properly.
