Dropping Things Permission

Postby DDDsDD999 » Mon Apr 24, 2017 7:00 am

People should have the ability to pick something they dropped in the last 10 seconds or so. Could be a permission or a toggle. Would be nice for trade areas.

Should also apply to cases where your inventory is overfilled and stuff drops automatically. Don't know if this happens to barter stands?

also to go on a tangent: If players could take items that they already stole from a claim, again, without leaving another theft scent, then the "getting damaged when leaving a scent" could get removed as it can't be used to crash the server anymore

Well if you're just trying to crash the server, couldn't you fill cupboards with leaves for alts to steal and generate essentially infinite scents that way still?

I'm inherantly wary of any mechanic that allows you to spam scents or flags due to our previous experience with that.

You'd need many alts with theft to do that, just as you could do it now, but need many alts because you lose health.

You'd need one, if there was no health punishment (which you were suggesting to remove). 1 alt with theft taking leaves, one alt with claim permission dumping into the cabinet. Wouldn't be too hard to bot it.

Fair enough, although that could easily be worked around by not making taking leaves theft

That starts to get into "fucky" territory though. What about dirt, mussels, sticks? I can think of quite a few items that could be produced essentially infinitely if you wanted to. Especially with bots.

It's just simpler/safer game design wise to leave the SHP penalty. If that penalty truly hurts the average raider, I'd be tempted to suggest we include some kind of SHP repairing tool/consumable rather than expose the scent mechanic to botted crashes.

In combat, using these pots would now be an interesting dynamic. Using SHP healing increases the HHP wounds you could take in a fight. Potentially exposing yourself to permadeath (once this system is ironed out) if you drank too many even.

It's at least an interesting dynamic to consider, if not to take seriously.

I'm completely against health potions

Then for simplicity and safety of mechanics, I'd say leave in the SHP penalty and just let it be. It's an ironclad protection against the crash that's worked quite well, so lets not mess with it.

I have to agree with this, though I'm not sure it could be done in any easy fashion. Will look at it.
