House as Light Sources & Windows

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

House as Light Sources & Windows

Postby DaniAngione » Sat May 06, 2017 6:06 pm

I was thinking that Haven houses are sometimes a bit awkward without windows. It's ok, but feels a bit off.

I'd love to see some windows added to them; they don't even have to "exist" inside the house (just like the Tower ) as I'm sure this would bring more harm then good with all the cupboard and items on walls placement being compromised because of them...

Although if they do exist it would be cool to be allowed to peek outside (like roads or doors) but without a "floating" eye, like a stealthy/sneaky way to peek outside.

And finally, the real reason behind this idea is to have a little (dim) light source from houses. It's a bit weird that they're always lit inside (maybe there are torches on the ceiling? :P ) but since that happens, we could have some light coming out from their doors (and windows, maybe) :D

That would make villages even prettier at night without needing to spread torches/candles everywhere =D

Yeah, that was kind of the inspiration :3

I'd like to see that effect added to cave entrances too, by the way. Forgot to add that, would be really cool!

I was thinking about this tonight. It'd be really awesome if this used the shift -> right click function they've added to doors and caves now. It would be super cool to look out your stone tower or windmill to see what's going on outside.

+10, but this will have to wait until we have freeform building.
