I know I'm biased, but I love the low magic lore haven has. Buffs are kind of interesting from a PvP standpoint, not sure how useful/functional they are but interesting. What about crafting based buffs that can be constructed/maintained at a village level? Purely intended as a convenience mechanic, but here's what I had in mind:
New construction: Spirit Shrine. Contains an inventory for offerings that is access by Rcllck>Make Offerings. Produces a buff over time that is collected via a Rclick worship option, consumes offerings during the process. Quality of shrine determines the rate at which buffs are produced.
New Items: Ritual offerings attuned to various crafts. Lore/Will softcap. The type of offering and its material inputs are related to each profession that can be boosted. Quality of the offering improves the buff duration. Made from things that hearthlings would feel a spirit of that nature would enjoy eating and/or using, much like spirit/ancestor worship in real life. Metal nuggets and sausages for metal spirits, Wheat and chicken eggs for harvest spirits, Blocks and Bark bread for tree spirits, etc.
Buffs: Each of the buffs I'm suggesting is intentionally themed around a stamina draining task/profession. The buffs would provide a 10-30 minute buff that speeds up actions related to the profession and provides a % reduction in stamina usage. This is primarily aimed at early-mid game villages where stamina drain from tasks significantly hampers your hunger bar due to needing to eat energy food. Stam reduction buffs that vary in convenience but not power can be tailored to reduce this issue without overpowering endgame villages.
Edit: People keep complaining about slaughter speed times. Herder's buff, that reduces slaughter timer to almost 0 could be a solution to this. This way you wouldn't accidentally go killing things, you'd only have the super fast action when you're buffed intentionally.
