Seasons - Summer/Winter

Postby renasmd » Fri May 12, 2017 7:08 pm

Would be nice to have seasons in this game.

Imagine snowy winters, bears would be hibernating in caves, a loot of deers in the woods, snow globe curiosity (Snow and Glass), debuff on crop growth speed, pine trees growth speed buffed, cold water fishes, frozen lakes where we could walk on them and a loot more.

Summer will have a huge variety of animals and foragebles on woods, water will flow from the snowy mountains giving a +Q water, crops grow faster, tree growth normalized, bears will came out of caves and hunt, hot water fishes and more.

Idk, just sounds fun. I know its not so easy like that, but would be cool anyway.

3rd highest rated suggestion in that list :D Nothing wrong with it, a lot of people clearly would like it. But the devs do know about it :)

Obviously, that includes ourselves as well. It's just not on the top of the list.

About season (carpe diem) is there some mechanic you and Jorb are interested or particulary like? idk...stuff like temperature changing, etc...
I mean, have you already tought anything about how you would like seasons affect the gameplay?

Not really in any depth. It's mostly the graphic variety that is most appealing to us. :)

Yeah, that's for sure...eventually at least adding stuff that spawn only during some seasons,etc... should be not too hard to add.
P.S. the hole in the ice to fish of UnRealWorld would be awesome as a tribute....but probably this is hard.

I don't think it's hard to code. I think it's really hard to balance. Especially with new players arriving randomly. Unless you only add fairly unimportant differences I guess.

But things like "ice fishing" implies rivers freeze over. That's a pretty huge mechanic rework.
