remove the satiation system

Postby Massa » Sat Jun 10, 2017 12:25 am

why does it exist exactly

is it to prevent people from plowing through stats with arbitrary decimal multipliers

can i just eat cheese by the kiloton again without having to drink beer, tea, tar or aids to get around the arbitrary system

because that's literally it, you just drink something and it goes back to normal

Agree completely, drinks should be removed/reworked.

but why put an arbitrary hamper on character development

the q grind legacy endgame was much nicer, but i reckon you guys could do something with deeper levels of the earth to waste time better

Mostly to encourage some variety in eating; it's a fair bit brain-dead to just stuff a character full of the exact same thing over and over again. Partly also to enable some puzzle-playing in eating, but I'm not entirely convinced satiations currently do the best possible job in that department.

I like the idea of making a variable pallet but when it takes a truck full of food to levle one thing up it just becomes an annoying chore

It's just messy until you get late game or drown yourself in infinite meat.

the whole journey to levelling is getting the ingredients, baking, cooking, processing, what ever they may be

Well, that's just the thing, isn't it? Without any limiter, pretty much the only ingredient you ever have to get would be milk.

Simply is better...why not just satiate itself and unsatiate the others?
Just to clarify (random numbers):
I eat two piece of meat (5% each), and now i have 90% of meat, now I eat one piece of fruit and I have 95% both, meat and fruit.
Then you can discuss numbers, and maybe different also between satiate and unsatiate....etc..

I still think diet should contribute the *growth* of a character rather than strictly the means to an end.

Maybe some type of "pairing" system would help? You could "pair" two foods that work together to increase it's FEP. Or perhaps have drinks contribute to FEP bonuses on tables rather than it be strictly based on the glass/tankard?

At this point I'm certain Loftar and Jorb were hellbent on putting one of these systems in (Hunger and Satiation) but couldn't decide which, and then just stuffed both in.

Which is hilarious because with both in, they counter eachother into the point where if you want to reset satiations without drinks, you're going to get negligible gains because you just fucked up your hunger meter AND fucked up 3 other satiations for yourself, and if you want your hunger to stay in the good amounts (300%~200%), then you're obviously not going to be able to do anything about your satiations, or you're going to have to drag their reset progress for months, which means that you don't do anything in terms of actually building/fighting/progression.
And the worst part is that the process of satiation increasing/decreasing is COMPLETELY RANDOM.

So here are your options that don't hurt your FEP gains too badly:
A) Eat salt and stuff yourself full of garbage (meaning you have to personally fight off resourcebots)
B) Take a sippy of every liquid (meaning you need to actually reach a certain period of the game, meaning your gains before said period will be fucked)
C) Play in short bursts (meaning you won't progress at all)

Make it so only the first piece of a food type between two FEP events gives you actual FEPs ¦]
