Kitchendom

With every update that introduces more furniture/containers that serve specific purposes, the closer we get to houses that look like actual homes, rather than the storage space of a particularly tidy hoarder. One thing I personally find to be sorely missing is stuff that allows me to make a proper kitchen for my dear little hearthling. I therefore propose adding a few items to make indoor cooking convenient.

Chef's table/counter

A centralised storage/crafting area for all things baking-related. Could look something like this:

With the HUD being something like this:

Basically, it would allow you to store decent amounts of water, flour, oil, poppy/flax seeds, etc. whilst also giving a bit of storage for additional ingredients like carrots, butter, etc. An animation would play whenever a player utilises it, showing them using the rolling pin, whisking things in a bowl, stuff of the like. It could also provide a flat 50% speed increase for crafting dough, which scales somewhat with the quality of the chef's counter.

Hearth

A hearth for having an indoor source of fire. Would function like a fireplace, maybe having a few more slots for pitbaked goods. Furthermore a smaller cauldron could be added to the game, which has no supports, but could be placed in the hearth or removed as desired, saving fuel but having smaller liquid storage. On the outside, a house with a hearth could have a cute chimney. Being in a house with a hearth could give a buff which increases travel weariness recovery and gives a small bonus to hunger modifier when eating at a table indoors, scaling with the quality of the hearth.

+1 Need milk storage too.

Emptying it will be a pain, however. Suggestions?

Give it barrel slots instead of innate storage, and the meters show barrel fullness for corresponding slots. If you want to swap out a substance, just pop out the barrel and put another one in.

That's a pretty decent idea. Curious if it would be viable to code.

Have wanted this for some time, but we need to be able to craft from barrels first.

i agree with the bit about being able to put barrels in there, and i was actually wondering why we couldnt craft from barrels yet.

anyways i would fucking love this.

As someone who has a bucket full of each ingredient type that needs to be constantly held or rotated out, this would be a QOL dream come true for a cook! +1 !

So , on crafting with barrels... could it be like using a stockpile of material close to your build site?

Or perhaps until that is figured out, have it require using multiple buckets instead of barrels (as a place holder for a later update when it is possible to use the intended barrel requirement), and just have a garden shed/knarr like holding system for barrels of ingredient where it says etc. in the mock diagram? I love the idea of having a meter to show how much of each barrel is left brilliant!!! I can’t wait for this to show up in an update!
