Stupid to add? Stupid in what way? As in immersion-breaking? There's other hats that do the same, like beer hat. Economically? People would buy it. The existence of anti-pop culture "hurr durr fidget spinner succ because FAD xdddd" people doesn't mean the fidget spinner hat wouldn't make money and be pretty funny. Besides it's been a while since they have released hats and why not give them some ideas for the next batch?

The issue with the hats is, according to Jorb, that the sales did not warrant to add more of them at the current point in time.

Possibly the few who are that much into hats could make up for that would he auction limited ones (like 3 to ever exist in the game, or even a unique one) for tokens in an ingame auction, or something similar, so the effort to create one (plus the cost of having to maintain it for the rest of the existance of H&H) could possibly be offset by an insane price.

Saying that as I was recently 'forced' to sell some hats to a very persistent player for (in my view) completely insane amounts of tokens, but as he offered them repeatedly and without remorse I had to do something to shut him up about it...

How about hat crowdfunding/presale?
Jorb throws in some ideas. Or pick up the ideas made by people. People vote with money. All hats which were sold more than Jorb's time to make them get into the game.
Also - Haven modelling is partially open. So crowdsourcing is possible - someone can just make all models and sketches for a hat and Jorb would probably agree to throw it into game if its 30-60min of his time.
