Credo bonus to abilities/attributes

Postby darkulrich » Sat Aug 05, 2017 12:29 pm

Hi!
I was just finishing my first credo today (foraging) and it seems the bonuses to perception/exploration are plain increments to stats (like if given from eating/spending LP).
I think it's somehow penalizing players doing these quests early. My suggestion is that these bonuses could be counted in the same way as "equipment" bonuses (i.e., those given by gildings). This way they would be more "permanent", if you want :-)

EDIT: and to do this, if it's not immediate to program, you might add some sort of "fixed" equipment slot (like, I don't know, "soul") that is updated with credo bonus (at least the numerical ones)

Why do you think that?

For the raw LP cost (or FEP required). Indeed, at the beginning going from, e.g., 1 to 11, it is about 6000/7000 LP.
Later it's less meaningful, but a much higher LP amount (from 100 to 110). For FEP it's a bit more complex, for sure.

In my case, since I never used marksmanship too much, it is still at 1. Before doing the hunter credo I would now wait to have to 100-150.

Having them as "equipment bonus" would make everything more simplified. This would be more relevant, for example, in the future, when other credos are added (bonus to unarmed, for example).

I would argue that introducing some sort of "credo" bonus would make more sense, and agree with OP's concern.

Viewed from the point of LP cost to obtain the extra levels the suggestion to make them work like equipment bonuses... OP makes sense.
So: Yes, reasonable.

+1 to this idea, a new farmer with say, 50 farming skill would save about 533k lp doing the farmer credo. Compare that to a well established farmer with, say 300 farming skill (pretty sure I'm lowballing here) that would save around 2158k lp. The new farmer would have to get an extra 1625k lp just to make up for that savings loss.

Credos as they are now punish you for doing them early.

I think half the point is that you have a meaningful decision on when to pick the credo bonuses.
