Cloning Characters

Postby TheNater » Sun Aug 13, 2017 6:04 am

It would be nice if you were able to take "x" amount of skill points and base attributes (Max should be 15%, but I think 10% would be fine) from one of your characters and create/clone a 2nd/3rd/4th etc., character.

It would definitely help out Newbies and hermits when they realize they should have more than 1 character (especially early game. Maybe make that the caveat?) I could see this being a problem late-game... So, maybe you could create an in-game mechanic where you have to sacrifice some items or something for your new character to inherit that 10-15% of XP/Attributes, etc,.

Thanks for your consideration.

Much Love.

+1. All mechanics that encourage alting must be good mechanics.

as a hermit with one main and one alt

i am against this
build a stupid bonfire with atleast one alt, more the better, then laugh at how slowly your hunger goes down and wonder how you'll ever satisfy your guy again

How does your dead bedroom have anything to do with the idea?

Thanks for your input. Did you stop reading halfway through what I wrote or something? Hey everyone, Granger said "No." that must mean he is the almighty decision maker! All praise be to Granger!

Seriously though, provide some input or constructive criticism otherwise it makes you sound like a brain dead dolt.

The 'no' is a simple reaction toward your idea, without stopping to read it.

My view that alts are bad for the game goes so far that I would be fine with seatribe removing the 'free to play' in favour for a complete subscription only model, even with the limitation of only one character per account - as this would attach a cost to the creation and maintenance of additional characters to run in parallel, most likely reducing the numbers of alts in the world.

In case you don't share my view: fine with me, it would suck would all humans be identical. Just please skip ad hominem when I don't share yours.

I strongly disagree with your opinion, but thank you for explaining your thoughts instead of just saying "no".

It sounds to me like you don't want user base growth in this game. Sounding like you want this game all to yourself and anything that goes against that, you have a closed mind to.

Sure there could be additional expenses to maintain additional alts, but there are ways around that as well. I have 3 alts and a main on my one account that I pay for. All I'm getting at is that you should stop being so close-minded about change to this game. Leave that for the developers to decide. My idea isn't perfect, but if done correctly it could increase the user base exponentially and I don't think I need to speak about economics here.. I"m sure you're intelligent enough to figure that out on your own.

If you have been interested in Haven since 2011 I'm surprised you are not aware that although there are no rules concerning alts the game mechanics are mostly designed to discourage alts and your suggestion is to encourage alts ... :?

Though to be fair ... with the introduction of credos and the way they have been implemented maybe the devs are now leaning towards us having more chars ... idk, anyway if you search for topics on alts you will find plenty of negative reactions to them for a variety of valid reasons, none of which involve anyone 'wanting the game all to themselves' ... ... most of us here care deeply for the game, inc Granger, want it to grow and only want what is best for it. - Though ofc, opinions on that may differ. :)

Alts are fine, botting is not. I think you are meshing the two together for whatever reason. I'm not okay with botting, even for something as tedious as farming. I think if there were more strict measures to identify and ban botters, then we might be in a better place user-base wise.
