It does count as an MMO. The world is consistent, there's only 1 server, anyone can eventually end up on another part of the world. It is possible for every player in the game to be in the same location at the same time. There are cities, villages, and hermits (your guilds, clans, and solo-players respectively). Some tasks are only (reasonably) accomplished with the aid of others but can technically be accomplished by 1 player (troll/mammoth killing for example).
