Email notification on updates

Postby Divicid » Sun Aug 20, 2017 7:06 am

Hello!

So i've been playing H&H since i think world 6?
Usually it's always the same, i play alot, then i get bored due to lack of content, and instead just follow the forums, looking at the nice new content being added.
But i do never feel the urge to get back into the game, until the next wipe. Due to falling behind from not playing the game.

Perhaps jorb and loftar would consider a mailing system? Telling us about your new updates, and IF you ever intend to wipe the server.
Now i know it's never the end goal to acctually wipe the server, but i really do enjoy all the things being added, but i will not join back in W10.
I will however, join back in W11, and i will spend money on the game. So i'm sure you would benefit from such a system.

Been suggested before.
One way to do it is to have two separate mailing lists. One which sends you mail each time theres an update in game. And one which sends you mail every time theres a new world. Two little checkboxes somewhere. Maybe they would be disabled by default to not annoy people too much.

Best way to know if there is a wipe without having your hand held is to read the forums frequently. Jorb and Loftar only tell us a month or more in advance each time....

Most games have some sort of mailing system with updates, to make sure people who are interested in the game, but not currently playing, might come back.
The reason being that people are not going to check every forum of the games they are interested in. I'm sure jorb and loftar would benefit from a mailing service.
Well that is if they want a larger playerbase in any future updates to the game or wipes.

There's too little who stick around, not necessarily want more on day of new world because W10 had 1000+ and result was literally unplayable lag fest including rollbacks so no thanks, those truely interested will find their own way.

I'm not sure there has ever been a successful business model that prefers less clients/customers due to not being able to handle the load.
If Haven & Hearth ever gets a problem with having to many people, the solution is to improve the servers, not discourage people from playing...

There were a few crash bugs in the newly written code for World 10, but that was all; there was no server-side lag. The server handles 1000 players happily.

As for the topic at hand, I'm not necessarily against it, I'm just having a hard time seeing it as a service. Whenever I join a website, the first thing I look for is the "unclick me to not get spammed" checkbox, and then I report the ones who proceed to spam me in spite of that to the abuse department of their ISPs.
