Herbs and garden pots

New herbs are steadily being added to the game, but I had a few ideas about how to perhaps make the experience of growing and utilizing them more enjoyable. Firstly, some new herbs with culinary (as well as medical or therapeutic) applications -- mint, rosemary, sage, and others -- would be a welcome addition.

How about herbs as non-essential ingredients to increase food and drink quality? Use spices while cooking to amp up the FEPs. Chives or parsley could be applied to a prepared meal as a garnish to improve its effects.

The process of emptying a garden pot every time an herb is harvested is a bit unrealistic and tedious, too. A new sprout of the herb stays in the pot after harvesting, and its new quality is a function of the quality difference between the soil and the plant, with soil quality decreasing and herb quality increasing at a 3 to 1 ratio. This would make it beneficial to change the soil when its quality becomes depleted, but not essential. You'd still have to water the pot, of course.

That would be nice QoL and with the soil depleting over time it wouldn't be overpowered.

In case you have an issue with the plant being q149 instead of q154 then you can change the soil, in case you don't then you could keep it in.
Clear upgrade to current system...

Completely agree. great suggestion.

just added a logical touch - this way plants won't sit on their current maximum forever and have to be taken care of. Or they can just die, for example if left in depleted soil for some time.

Soil would only go down in q, better reason to kill the plant would be being dry - so rules could be:
- pot is plantable as soon as filled with 4 soil
- plant in pot can only grow when having water and no harvest is ready
- pot being dry for 48h 'kills' one item (reduces 'pick'able items by one, kills the plant if none available)
- completed growth cycle allows to 'pick' one item less than currently, drains the water, leaves the plant in place (q as of picked items), reduces soil 3-5q
- 'empty' the pot will return any available 'pick'able items plus the plant itself (like current 'pick') and the soil at current q, any water is lost
- watering a grown pot will turn it into a decorative (no further growth since items are ready for 'pick' so water isn't consumed)
- everything is plantable BUT glimmers (, ...) won't grow ('empty' returnes item and soil with q as planted), needs water (not consumed though) to not die
- preferably the soil is tracked on a per-item basis (so worms are returned as worms, ...) to better suspension of disbelief (soil no longer vanishing)

This would give QoL should soil q be ok for the player, a failure mode when growing (but ignoring the plant) and decorative pots with bells and glimmer.

Spices of various kinds could be fun.

Will consider your QoL suggestion.
