List of Tweaks and Suggestions

Postby LostJustice » Sat Sep 16, 2017 8:05 pm

Me and a few other people had a list of suggestions that are kind of minor tweaks that we would like to see happen and feel like would be some really cool editions to Haven and Hearth. So instead of creating like 10 different threads I am just going to list them here since they are so minor.

1. Make spindly roots stockpile able. You can stockpile almost every string including nettle but not spindly taproots.

2. Allow customize able names/tooltips for items. Allow something like a parchment or something where we can add our own custom text like "Memories of Pain" for instance to items or even allow us to change the display name of item such as allowing me to name my wood cutting ax "The Legendary Beaver Trimmer". This suggestion originally came to me from a villager asking me to add it to help keep track of his different gilded sets.

3. Make itsy-bitsy spiders hang-able on walls or on spider webs on walls. This was also suggest from a villager and is a larpy thing like otters, but this will make a lot of people happy.

4. Use bark for thatching materials. This is kind of a two part suggestion. This kind of allows of course using bark as thatching materials but also allows a new wide array of different roof colors besides straw, tar sticks, and the forbidden fir roofs.

5. Decrease the linseed oil cost for painting objects. There are some really cool designs and art people can do and be creative with this but a lot of times it is restricted by the oil cost. If this was lowered a bit then it could help with creatively expanding Haven's art community.

6. Make dried tea leaves stockpile able or some sort of storage for this. We can stockpile fresh ones but not dried ones?

7. More storing options with barrels. This suggestion kind of has to do with #6 but decided to keep this separate. Allow things like dried tea leaves or even meats to become barrel able and able to be stored in barrels. In real life, most meat was stored in barrels with salt for preserving till use and this could be a really cool mechanic.

8. Also another suggestion relating to barrels is making barrels stack-able on each other. For instance you can take one barrel and put it on another barrel to make it a double stacked barrel. This is kind of an aesthetic change only but would allow more designs and decoration with villages and also a bit more compact storage with barrels.

9. Hang leaves on walls, for larpy usages and decoration.

10. Make wreaths which are out of leaves and flowers to put on walls as well, again for larpy usages and decorations.

11. Stockpile or barrel peppercorn. Another stockpiling item that people have too much of in cupboards.

12. Stockpile or a building where you can store multiple logs into it. Kind of like a stockpile zone for logs. Saw this from another post and a villager suggested it.

13. *BUG FIX* Barrels and Troughs don't waste seeds when taking seeds out of granary. (Using trough on granary deletes 10k seeds because it tries to fill the trough with 20k seeds but can only hold 10k.)

Will expand this list as I get more suggestions. Thanks.

+ positive
= neutral
- negative

1. + There should be stockpile for every item in the game. It kinda makes devs look lazy at this point.
2. = I don't believe loftar will be kind enough to implement adding thousands of string messages to database.
3. = Needs a rewrite or new item.
4. - Bark is really bad as thatching, water drips through parts of it.
5. = Devs want moneys spent on paintings.
6. as in 1.
7. ? What things, devs don't think for you. Barrels mechanically apply only to liquids.
8. - Either new object is required, or major rewrite of objects. Too much work.
9. Remove all larpers only min-maxers allowed :^)
10. as in 9
11. ? Isn't pepper already allowed to be held in barrells?

2. = I don't believe loftar will be kind enough to implement adding thousands of string messages to database.
Java is object orientated. Add a string object to item name that is sent on save and load of the item anyways. Very minor and isn't thousands of string messages to a database. Memories of pain already does this.

3. = Needs a rewrite or new item.

Yes.

4. - Bark is really bad as thatching, water drips through parts of it.

Salt doesn't relieve hunger or ice doesn't help you become more experienced in a skill. Not sure what your point is here.

5. = Devs want moneys spent on paintings.

Kind of a two sided point. People play for different reasons and we are not sure how successful buying paintings are. The change isn't major maybe like 10-20% change. Of course more complicated designs are going to still cost more. Either way, if people are willing to spend money, they probably still are or otherwise tbh most people will find ways around it if they are still apt not to spend money. Not to mention you could possibly have more players playing allowing for more money from tokens or verification.

7. ? What things, devs don't think for you. Barrels mechanically apply only to liquids.

Was stated in the suggestion if you finished reading it.

8. - Either new object is required, or major rewrite of objects. Too much work.

This is jorb's and loftar's decision. They may already have a way of easily adding this that you may not be aware of. Let them decide what the work load is since they know how that works better than anyone else. If they want to add it in.

9. Remove all larpers only min-maxers allowed :^)
10. as in 9

If your not a larper ok, I'm not either but like your opinion of stockpile able is just as important as hanging leaves on walls for some people. :|

11. ? Isn't pepper already allowed to be held in barrells?

No you cannot store peppercorn into a barrel or stockpile it.

Just a reminder that jorb has requested that you don't make lists of requests like this. Each idea should be its own thread. I'm not going to lock it, but I would suggest this be split up.

I'll also note I've seen a couple of the ideas come up at least once before, such as the "item renaming". Also, if there's a request for a stockpile, I can guarantee the thread already exists without looking. Please do a bit of background search before making a new thread.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
