Why are we still using water for running?

Postby ydex » Sun Sep 24, 2017 1:20 am

Hello friends!
I have been watching some vids of Haven as I couldn't sleep, and realized alot of inventory space really is used just for water storage.
Previously in this discussion Jorb mentioned that he did like the water because it adds an element of management to doing work (and in extention running around/fighting I suppose).
But Jorb in that same discussion mentioned that he did not like the look of the waterflasks/hides filling up the inventories.

And I must say, it does look redicolous. Even saw some vids of a guy using belts in the main inventory and inside the belts there were watercontainers, completly uggly and funny looking.

With this said; why are we still using water for running?

Cheers mates.
And sorry for bad english as usual.

I agree that would make more sense a water bar like the energy one, and a stamina bar that refill by itself taking from water and energy.

Didn't you just clearly include the reason in your own post?

I would consider the actual act of drinking important, though, since it's highly relevant just where and when to stop/slow down to drink.

Don't you think is a bit too often right now?
With that would be the same but less often ... and at the same time you still have the stamina in a way you cannot istantly make everything.
In short we would drink like we eat right now ... when the pool of water run out no more fast stamina regen.

the use of water to recover "stamina" is a staple of survival games. its a time gate thats there only to be a time gate. look at it like this: when youre tired, and you drink some water, do you magically recover energy? of course not. water HAS no energy for you. your body mostly just uses it to flush out the systems, water down the blood stream, and cool the body.

honestly, there shouldnt be a stamina bar to begin with. it adds nothing but time gating and waiting around, makes inventory management even worse than it otherwise already is, and dosent function ina manner that even makes the most basic form of sense.

I beilive I did not. Since if it is only important in combat due to the management aspect of when to slow down (which I do like btw), then the resource water surely is not needed to accomplish this?

For example make stamina bar function exactly like it does now, add some sort of slow down command that just refills it as fast as water does now (hit hotkey to slow down to "rest"/recover/breath/whatever) and.. no water needed so profit?
