Mosquitos, an Idea

So, I came back yesterday from an attempt to hunt wild boar (found tons of tracks, no boar this time). And today I discovered that, despite my best efforts, I've acquired numerous itchy mosquito bites. It then dawned on me that despite spending almost all their time outside in the elements, Hearthlings never get mosquito bites!

Perhaps this could be some kind of randomly occurring short-lived wound? And if left untreated, it could fester into malaria!

Agreed. What's the fun in being a Hearthling if I can't be killed by simply being? It *is* supposed to emulate real life to some extent, after all!

And a random chance of deer ticks carrying Lyme disease while hunting- only because it's harder to make rabies a thing without removing player agency.

Have clothing coverage detirmine bite chance like with leeches maybe? Having to remove ticks from slots after butchering a wild animal might be interesting mechanic- and countered by being within 3-5 tiles of a fire negates them? Or it could lead to deveopment of using bough smudges? Incense cone accessory to lower chance of bug bites? Lots of interesting options and themes to explore with it.
