Idea for future update. The ability to make cursed items connected with your claim. If someone steals from you the item would turn the thief's Avatar neon pink with purple polka dots or some type of bright neon color. Maybe even a old black and white prison outfit. Length of time from a day to a month depending on Q of curse. No way to tell if item is cursed or not until you pick it up. Only activates for current claims but would not activate if the claim expires. That way those that scavenge but don't steal wouldn't get marked as a thief. Another option would be to add a curse that lowers stats. Gives a modern twist to the old "Caught Red Handed" phrase from when they used to literally paint a thief's hands red.

I mean... you can already track where a stolen item is.

But there are scents system already.
You can offer how to improve it, or make some additional features. But what the point of proposing same mechanic, but in other words?

I kinda like the idea of increasing security on an item. Investing resources into some specific items so their theft scents last longer or something like that. idk how it'd really be done, but just a thought.

That sounds like a pretty cool idea. Maybe have to invest a certain amount of EXP or resources into a certain item to make it have a stronger bond. Sounds legit!

I feel like people would put up random claims to leave good junk in it.
But honestly this is so trolly that I feel that abusing it would be just silly.

Also changing peoples clothing would be a no go.
But painting their hands red would be funny.

Anyhow, very trolly.

I think it would be really nice, imagine the "curse of the pharaoh" feeling we'd get from raiding abandoned bases.

I'm thinking this would be a good deterrent to the players that pick on newbies just for the hell of it. The Nidbane is good for those of us that can do it. Tracking scent is good for us that can actually fight. If there is a cursed item or a Ward on certain items that would show other players that a person is a thief, vandal or killer it might make certain players think twice about commuting crimes. The ward would need to be very localized (gate, chest, cupboard,etc) and only able to place one at a time. The cursed items could have a limit of two or three. It would need to be accessible once a player could build at least one house since by that time they should have things that they can build/craft but would suck if stolen or destroyed. It's just a thought.

Hadn't thought about that but it would add a thrill to it. Maybe once the claim is done a residual curse that does something completely different. That way they wouldn't get marked as a thief. A new quest line would be to do something that will cure your curse.
