Why backpacks

People who don't wear backpacks should receive significant bonuses. Not the generic +X to stat Y, but something meaningful like stamina or running, swimming and crafting speed.

After one week into the game everyone is already wearing same backpack, which they will also keep wearing forever, and it's kinda weird. They are such a part of hearthling culture that one would rather walk around naked than put down their backpack. People drown but never let go of them. Even kings wear backpacks. It is truly a peculiar world.

But we could have different types of mobile storages to choose from:

bandolier
satchel
plank basket
hook belts
barrel bag
exploration rucksack
fruit basket
legionnaire marching pole

Each with their own usefulness:

bandolier: for carrying a large number of 1x1 things.
satchel: few things, but buff to agility
plank basket: vertical backpack for planks, boughs and long weapons.
hook belts: toolbelt for hanging a large number of small animals (squirrel, rabbits, ducks, hedgehogs)
barrel bag: for exclusively carrying a large amount of liquid without speed penalty.
exploration rucksack: large and heavy backpack for long treks underground or in the wilderness.
fruit basket: backpack that lets us carry very large amounts of fruits and berries, although exclusively so (similar to how buckets work with seeds).
legionnaire marching pole: smaller backpack that can be quickly dropped with preassigned contents to provide no-backpack speed bonuses during combat.

Let me repeat though: characters that don't wear backpacks should receive some benefits.

+1.
An old, forgotten mechanic, the slot that can be used by only 1 item that will give weighty bonus.

Why. Nothing like that exists for any other slot.

I don't think having specific backpacks for everything is a good thing, just seems like really annoying 3D inventory tetris.

The problem is there's not much to put in the slot. Hussar wings were added as pretty much the only other thing to put in the slot, and plenty of people wear them. Just need to add other things.

Do Quivers even give any sort of bonus or boost while being worn?

If you're not wearing a backpack you're likely wearing 2 sets of hussar wings, so that's a +50 AGI bonus that already exists

Backpacks are already a part of MMOs culture, even if in real life they were not used that often, and certainly didn't have the same space Haven offers us.

I think that backpacks should not be seen as *actual* backpacks. They're there just to simplify our multiple tasks without having to carry item per item from one place to another.

Exactly what I was thinking... Precisely! ;)

I like your list, it's well rounded. The only thing I would say is that the barrel bag should only give a lesser speed penalty. But I would definitely love to see some variety implemented. 8-)
