Mining out slime spawner structure instead of army of slimes

Instead of mining a tile and suddenly having 1-23+ slimes greeting you with an immediate friendly gangbang, why not introduce a slime spawner structure (Slime Mother?) that slowly spawns 1-4 slimes at a time, periodically. You can either kill all the waves of slimes until the slime mother is depleted, or kill the generator itself.

Would make more sense. Maybe spawn as a big mobile slime that dosn't aggro itself - you are free to attack it should you not feel like killing of the smaller ones that separate over time... but you could bite more than you can chew in that case.
