Link credo quests/level directly to the credo's tier

Postby PhaedrothSP » Mon Oct 30, 2017 3:24 pm

High tier credos should still have a considerable number of quests/level, but if I decide to go through and finish blacksmithing and then decide to take up an early tier credo like fishing, should that really need 12 quests?

Linking the required number of quests/level directly to the number of credos needed to unlock the desired credo might make suicide look a lot less appealing than it currently does.

Actually, I agree with you there, I left one of the lower tier credo's to get a more exciting one and as it was harder was kinda glad it didn't have too many quests but it doesn't really make much sense like that.

+1

Maybe something like

T1: 10, 20, 30.

T2: 40, 50, 60.

T3: 70/80/90.

T4: 100, etc

so on and so forth I don't think we have any T5 credos yet (until something relies on Smith or Cave Hermit)

yes, this bothers me a bit as well.

but I do think there should be some sort of compounding effect so it is difficult to get all the credos.

what if we thought of it like a hierarchy and your credos only know about your credos of the same level or below. so credos in a higher tier than the credo your going after would not count towards your total. so if your doing a T1 quest, it only cares about other T1 quests you have done when determining how many quests you should do.

so if you have done two T1 quests and your doing a 3rd, you would have T1[2+ 2]+ 2 for the quest your on = 6 quests to do.

if your doing a T2 quest, it would look at how many T1,T2 quests you have done, but not how many T3 of T4 quests.

so if you had two T1, two T2, and two T3 and 1 T4 and you were doing a 3rd T2 quest, it would be T1[2+2]+T2[2+2]+2 for the quest your on = 10 quests. and the T3 and T4 credos would not count.

Think of it as a penalty for "trying to do it all." If you're a hermit and playing exactly one character, it's a thing you have to do. If you're a member of a village, you can specialize a bit more. Better suggestion, from me, at least, is to quit playing exactly one character... Or be willing to sacrifice yourself to the drowning pool to decrease your "credo counters" and have fewer quests to complete one.

As an FYI, this was discussed a good bit in the announcement: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=58199. jorb was pretty set on this is how it's going to be if I recall right.

I still feel that they should just flat-out remove the "death bonus", its totally stupid. At that point the way credos progress could be reworked, but I think its quite an interesting way of promoting specialisation - so I don't want it to become too easy to get all the first-level credos.

It makes no sense to exist. Unless it changes, suiciding for credos is going to be abused next world.

I'm currently "abusing" it right now. Its really dumb, especially with how it interacts with inheritance of stats & attributes.

Agree - they have to change the mechanism a bit before a world reset otherwise the first two weeks are credo/die/credo/die then they are like a meaningless static bonus for everyone until the end of the world.

the credo System in general is something i'm Uncertain of my stance, & i hate the Concept of questing in haven because it has absolutely no fucKin' place here, 4realS.

but hey at least cave hermits a cool credo
