Scaling Difficulty: Please send me to Hel.

With infinite progression, you will no doubt scale past any static content. Bears, Trolls, and Mammoths all become trivial after a certain point and no longer provide any real difficulty, and the only content in game that is worth a damn are other Titans. Which with the current safety mechanics in place makes it hard to even hunt and kill those.

So I'd like to suggest underworld portals found on Level 5 of the mines. These would randomly be dug out, and when you pass through the portal, the content inside scales based on the top 10% of the population currently inside the portal. Meaning if one hundred players enter the portal, only the top 10 matter for scaling the content. I also think that the content inside these portals should be at a minimum above 1k in each stat. Reason being is that averages of the whole can be exploited, however I admit 10% may be too low of a sample.

Inside these portals would be interesting woods, rocks, and other cosmetic materials. As well as procedurally generated curiosities(random LP and study time) that can be found with foraging, and taken off the denizens inside. Possibly even a higher natural quality than that can be found in the normal world. At most though the areas should be about 4 supergrids big.

These areas could have other dangerous things limiting or negating some of a player's advantages.
Such as:
limiting the type of materials you can use,
    Limiting gildings,
    Limiting weapons,
    Limiting Gear Quality,
    Limiting combat actions,
    Increased Cooldowns,
    Decreased Damage,
    Mob speed increases,
    Limited mobility,
    Horses go crazy,
    Magnified Wounds,
Miasma(Continous HP damage while inside the Miasma clouds)
    And so on

Though not necessarily all at once, or even all the time inside the same portal. As I think it could be interesting to "tame" a portal by figuring out it's patterns, when it's safest to farm, when it's best not send anyone in, or even when the portal "boss" appears.

The idea here is to give Titans and groups of Titans something to sink their teeth into, as well as develop areas of unique materials that are worth fighting over. As well as place where they can die, as I imagine the denizens wouldn't KO you and leave you alone, they'd kill you for invading their realm.

Not sure why you said "send me to Hel" for. These aren't horrible ideas, but I think it dodges the real problem... that of infinite stat growth.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Reference to the Nordic diety of the dead. And this is for if infinite growth is here to stay, if stat caps come around again then obviously this idea isn't needed.

Edit: I just realized that Hel is also a subforum, and understand why you were confused lol. I was just trying to be clever

Haha props being brave enough for pushing forth new ideas which aren't so bad. And double props for insinuating without prior knowledge of Haven's special 'Hel', a double sided Hel joke, leading to many readers' initial chagrin.

Thank you :D .
Ideas are in the end, just a numbers game. You aren't going to always have good ones, and there can definitely be some real stinkers. However I still prefer to defend an idea till I can see no way to defend it, that's how you weed out the bad ones :D.
