Smaller Inventory Format

Postby linkfanpc » Fri Nov 03, 2017 6:50 pm

Note: I'm not fully suggesting this be added, as it would indeed take a long time to implement, i just wanted to see the community's views on it.

Basically: What if the inventory tiles were smaller? One tile right now would be split into 2x2 smaller tiles. I mean, seriously, how does four blueberries equal the size of a board, or twice that of a pickaxe?

If it were smaller, sizes could make a little more sense. One blueberry is one tile, a carrot is two, etc. Powders could increase in size by how much is in them. (0.10 is one tile, 0.30 is 2x2 or one current tile, 0.50 or more is 3x3.)

I've always liked this idea, what do you think?
Total misplay.

No, fuck inventory tetris. It's right at the point between efficient and annoying, it doesn't need much changing.

I have a hate for bluebarries and how much inventory room they take up.
When I was a wee noobie I asked for them to be stackable...

something needs to be done :(

Fruit basket: handheld, works like bucket, stores large amounts of berries and fruits.
Happiness itself.

Yes, baskets and stacking have been discussed enough everyone knows it's wanted, and it's a good idea, but we're talking about the inventory itself, not those.

giving items stack values would be a good compromise. 1 inventory slot of bluberries could hold 10 blueberries. 1 inventory slot of board could hold 3 boards.

would be a bitch to intuitively see item qualities though

Remember all the issues with farming and stacks of seeds? Flour and the new "fluid inventory" system? Careful what we ask for, because we might end up with mixing q80 berries we just picked with q10 berries we'd rather be rid of.... Though nothing saying a "forage basket" couldn't be held in the hand and be a 12 or so inventory kind of like seed bags were... even just sit in the pack... We had seedbags, after all.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
