Collecting and displaying (especially animals)

Postby ven » Thu Nov 23, 2017 1:44 am

In w8 I found a house that had a cupboard with a single seed of every tree and bush available.
I've heard w10 northern kingdom has a collection of bushes in a room too.
I'm pretty sure that, somewhere, there's a hermit collecting all possible fishes.

With the recent addition of so many new animals, I think we should also have a way of turning them into movables for collection purposes (I don't know how exactly. Maybe patching several hides together).

Further still, there should be a counter-like furniture item designed exclusively to display things like these (for example: curios, coins, berries, weapons, skulls, parchments, etc.)

Fish, specifically, could be nailed to a board and hung on a wall:

I like that with the fishes.
Trees and bushes could be plantable inside gardening pots, resulting in bonsai versions (no products, just decoration) by simply rendering a scaled down mesh (like amber mini trees, just more extreme so they fit inside the pot).

For the 'stuffed' animals the following could work: setup a build sign that needs some boards, some string, some wool/fiber and some glue to hold it all together that will also pull in a full (fresh, not skinned/butchered) animal corpse like it would pull material from a stockpile... yielding something similar to the manequin, just with the animal ontop the platform.

+1 to both posts ... would so much love to display things, the fish idea is great, some of the fish, like the catfish look really nice and bonsai trees and bushes would be really cool! :D

the animals could theoretical be done with a new manikin that has a slot for items the animal produces. so a chicken statue would be a blank plaque until x number of feathers are inserted. a bear would require a bear skin and a bear tooth. a beaver would require a beaver skin, teeth, and tail.

So essentialy taxidermy skill. Softcap by Dex + Sew. Displaying animals in different poses like in mannequin? Probably adding to a bonus that a bonfire creates or just a fluff for decoration.

Maybe a bonus to studying if you log out in the same room?
