Sounds like something that wont happen.
You would have to make smaller versions of all clothes &c &c..
Of course you could scale everything down, the player and his clothes, which might be reasonable thing to implement without that much effort.

I think overall idea of the character customization sounds nice as was suggested thousand of times probably.
Like in the beginning when you chose the hairstyle, you could also chose a skin color, body composition, height and the eye color at least.
