This is in response to this comment from Loftar on another thread.
Yes, it would be fun if the realm officials were notified, but the best way for them to be notified is by people actually speaking to the crown.
So perhaps it would make sense for someone to click the crown when they're in a realm and send a message to the crown. Time gate it so they can only send one message every x minutes to prevent spamtastic spamming, and provide a permission that indicates which village officials have access to this specialized 'chat channel'.
What I wouldn't want to see is 'automatic notification of realm officials' when a crime is committed.
Alternate ideas:
Scrying Bowls - A special structure created with a seer's bowl, looks like short stone plinth with a bowl on top. By throwing in a dream the user can see a random scent crime that occurred in the last 12-24 hours.
Smoke Signals - Essentially throw scents onto a fire to notify those in charge of the realm. "A citizen calls for help!"
However, the way I really think it should be handled?
Keep your realms to a manageable size, have soldiers patrol for scents, make sure those who live in your realm are part of it and can report it, set up Discord channels for people to communicate through, be a community.
We really don't need this automated.
