A Word To The Crown

This is in response to this comment from Loftar on another thread.

Yes, it would be fun if the realm officials were notified, but the best way for them to be notified is by people actually speaking to the crown.

So perhaps it would make sense for someone to click the crown when they're in a realm and send a message to the crown. Time gate it so they can only send one message every x minutes to prevent spamtastic spamming, and provide a permission that indicates which village officials have access to this specialized 'chat channel'.

What I wouldn't want to see is 'automatic notification of realm officials' when a crime is committed.

Alternate ideas:
Scrying Bowls - A special structure created with a seer's bowl, looks like short stone plinth with a bowl on top. By throwing in a dream the user can see a random scent crime that occurred in the last 12-24 hours.

Smoke Signals - Essentially throw scents onto a fire to notify those in charge of the realm. "A citizen calls for help!"

However, the way I really think it should be handled?

Keep your realms to a manageable size, have soldiers patrol for scents, make sure those who live in your realm are part of it and can report it, set up Discord channels for people to communicate through, be a community.

We really don't need this automated.

People will almost never use forms of communication implemented in the game when they can just use discord and such.

You also can't send memes through in-game chat, so it's ultimately worthless.

I like the idea, maybe make it some hearth magic only available for lawspeakers + the timegate per village to avoid spam. I would rather see the bonefires be used to send signals using hearth magic and or a craftable with scents.

It could act like with borders attack with arrows to follow.

Counter-point -> Not all people who live under the auspices of a realm are in the Discord, nor are they necessarily even in Kingdom chat. I largely agree with you though.

I'm still salty global chat rooms for people standing on kingdom claims were not added.
With a fairly small population this would make game a lot more lively.
Right now you spawn on a kingdom claim and can live forever without seeing another hearthling or talking to other people in the kingdom.
Oathing everyone into a kingdom is just not realistic.
There should be a 2nd kingdom chatroom for everyone.

I like this idea, except make it so that a player has to throw the scents into their hearthfire instead of a regular fire. Also, the crime and hearthfire must be located within the realm for it to work. After that it sends a quest to the coronation stone, or perhaps a new realm structure. The quest can be accepted by any realm member who right clicks the structure and accepts the quest, which comes complete with a description of the type of crime, as well as the player who sent it and maybe a short message from the player. The quest has a limited time period(a few hours to a day) and points in the direction of the hearthfire.

Might be a bit ambitious and probably highly exploitable, but that's my idea.

It would make more sense to supply the scents thrown into the fire.

Nice idea in theory, but it would most likely be exploited by having some alts on the 'for' kingdom claim to spam scents and feed them into this.

Anything to facilitate communication and interaction between players is good.

The fact is that this is a world where people are around 5% of the time, that's trying to simulate a world where people are around 100% of the time. In a "real" H&H world I would have little difficulty finding and communicating with local people, I'd just visit them.
