Crop and animals diseases

Postby ElCabron » Thu Dec 21, 2017 5:55 am

So, It would be cool if we had something like crop seasons and diseases or some random events that can occur more frequently, so ppl need to actually take care of the farm.
Right now farming is just laying seeds and after some days getting them back and doing it over and over, that if you even do that tho. Alot of ppl use bots to farm, even custom clients were used to have it.
Make that so it would be significantly harder to bot it (Well, I guess so  )
If you don't "treat" the crop disease it can spread and affect all the others making it gives less when harvested and even killing the crop
Also some rare diseases that are unknown and will make your entire field die.

Everything said above could also be applied to animals, since atm you just leave them and eventually look who is the better male to keep alive.
being near those animals could give you some kind of debuffs and not treating them could result in lost of the entirety of your animals.

I'm sorry for the bad writing but it's 3am and I'm writing while thinking.

I feel like we need to look at how boring farming is before adding more nuisances to pester farmers. Why do people bot farms? Because it's arguably the dullest part of the game. Rework/rebalance farming before adding this, I say.

I agree that farming should deserve some improvments ... Salem farming was pretty good to me, maybe a reviewed version of that, where you need fertilizers and stuff ... but mostly I'd say more variety, like for example male and female weed plant :D ....
(Btw I'd like to see improvements about hunting/archery first ...)

No! Time for the ultra-realism to stop. It is a game and should be a joy to play not a chore.

This. It's already a chore doing lots of things unless you are in a village with people consistently active all the time. You can find other ways to be a masochist other than forcing the rest of us to choose which of our jobs (to those of us that work for money to pay for the internets xD) we would rather stick with.

some constructive criticism here instead of just calling it a crappy idea.

The issue with diseases on the crops is that you would need to have a new graphic for a diseased plant vs a healthy plant for each stage of each crop, with 17 crops and at least 3 stages to each, you are looking at about 50 new graphics. otherwise you will have to mouse over each crop individually, which would annoy even the most die hard of farmers, i'm sure. also, a lot of the options that we have for treating these crops weren't available during the timeline that the game covers. so more than likely the only real answer to having a diseased plant would be removal of that plant, which would require the adding of a mechanic for removing immature plants. this could lead to pulling up entire crops by mistake.

I agree that farming shouldn't be HYPER realistic, but i dont think it any more grindy than any other part of the game... go kill a pig, hearth back, drop, go kill another pig. Mining: dig dig dig... silk production... everything has a grindy aspect to it, even foraging.

there is one addition to farming i would like to see though... soil fertility that can be helped with crop rotation. or fertilizers

This idea is fantastic, I've wanted it for a long time, and it's far past time farming was more than plant and forget.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

difficulty simulator, aka burnout sandbox... and the reason why Salem is "so popular"... I gave up Salem when mining become a crazy grind... taming animals was impossible, having a stand or a village was crazy grind too... I think you guys don't realize you want to kill exactly what makes HH relatively easy going... this relaxed gameplay is the core of the game and you want to change it 180 degree, oh boyy...
