Suuguat - Ivory Figures

Postby GamingRAM » Sun Jan 07, 2018 4:45 am

Over the summer (over 6-months ago (yes I know I'm late on this)), I took a trip to Alaska. Here's a suggestion from something I learned while over there.

Ivory-figures called “suuguat”

If we ever get unique bones for each type of animal, I’d like to see us make charms/gilds based on them. (Bear tooth made into tiny bear head, Otter bones made into tiny otters).
From the link it mentions for the bear head the nose and eyes have copper on them "a bear’s head with open mouth and copper-inlaid eyes and nostrils"

Alaska Culture =/= Northern European Culture

Seems out of place, no thanks.

But not the Neko cats, silkmoths, crabs, cork trees, pumpkins, Tobacco

Theres a lot of cultural contradiction in items, but very little contradiction in the lore created by skilltexts, exp events, etc..

you could make an argument that all the unique bone drops from animals already acts like bone totem for the animal. Being able to craft the moose antler curio into a moose figure curio seems strange... Perhaps taking 4-5 finebones from specific animals and crafting them all into a figurine menagerie?

Jorb previosly say that every activities should have a gem like prizes.

Maybe this idea is a good start. We already have plenty finebones , what if there some workstation and a chance to make a figurine with variety like gems( from rough to masterpiece) softcapped with survival and lore, maybe psyche.
And maybe this can be gilded only in necklaces(some of them completly useless now)

We have the Ivory Figurine from the Mammoth Tusk so I don't see why not. :)

Could certainly do more with various kinds of bone art. Not entirely sure what to make of this idea, but I don't dislike it.
