Watermelon Snow

Over the summer (over 6-months ago (yes I know I'm late on this)), I took a trip to Alaska. Here's a suggestion from something I learned while over there.

On the mountains I stumbled upon some snow with a subtle red tint to it…

Watermelon snow could be a cool Localized Resource that gives a minor curio to study (and since it would melt it would need to be studied immediately). You could also eat it but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Snow 101: never eat yellow or brown snow.

Nice idea, could be a localized resource that depletes (by harvesting) and then respawns in another location.

How peculiar. Never seen anything like it. Variable materials for snow? When we implement dogs, we can do yellow snow as well? Eh?

I like it, but the name might need to be changed. Does it have a traditional name? If not I propose "Blood Snow".

Watermelon snow seemed to be the more common name, but other names include:
"snow algae, pink snow, red snow, or blood snow"
