Reword ability credo buffs

Postby Parkace » Wed Jan 10, 2018 11:00 pm

Before getting the first buff of the Hunter credo line, which gives you 20 marksmanship, I was considering raising the skill up a little bit while it was cheap.

I then said, "It wouldn't matter, as that additional stats would be a bonus.... right?"
Turns out, I got scammed.

Any credo that increases your ability score is a scam, and here's why.
The current system counts the additional ability score as if you bought it with LP rather than as a base increase or even a bonus increase.
This system would mean that all players, some with hundreds of marksman or (insert ability here) and others with little to none get scammed out of LP prices that end up way more expensive before they got that buff, when they could have got the same increase MUCH cheaper.

This is especially hard hitting on freshies, as they struggle to get curiosities and the boat tactic being the only "safe" way of getting larger game, get scammed with a 12 times increase[/b] with prices for that skill (200 to level it up to 2, 2200 to level it up to 22)

Turns out, this is how its supposed to be, in that case:
Proposed change: Make it so that credos that give you ability score increases DO NOT increase prices of gaining abilities through LP
Make it so that on the credo wording is more clear on what the buff is (I thought it was just a normal bonus)

Alright then, well at the very least can they clarify in the credo description that the buff works differently from a normal bonus? Kinda confusing, especially credos being something somewhat new

Feel free to suggest a better wording.

while clothing and kingdome buffs are applied on top of what you already have, Credo buffs are applied under your current skill. do credo bonuses get doubled by clothing?

Possible wording: "Credo's are a part of your character and all buffs received from a credo are considered part of your base skills for all purposes." adding "including/excluding being doubled by clothing" as needed.

if the credo buffs are able to be doubled by clothing, then i am perfectly fine with them increasing my LP cost... if they are not able to be doubled, then i think they should be installed on top and not increase the cost of future skill points.

This is stupid!
It should be like equipment bonus. Now it just leads to problems when you try to maximize the bonus by increasing the skill first etc.,

"Increase base Exploration +10"

Would serve the purpose imo.

Is this really such a big deal? I forgot to gorge on Marksmanship before I got Marksmanship+20 from my credo. After crying for a little bit, I realized I had missed out on a whipping 40k LP value. Not the end of the world at all.

On one hand, it would be a little more painless if it acted as a 'buff' a la gear.. on the other, it would be permanent messiness to avoid a temporary awkward situation..
