cook credo

Postby tigerlrg245 » Fri Jan 19, 2018 3:42 pm

I think would be pretty cool to have a cook credo, didnt find any threads about it so im opening this for discussion

ideas for bonuses:
+cooking , +perception
maybe special recipes that come with credo
chance of getting more slices from cheese
increased quality of baked goods/cooked stuff in general

quests could be bringing certain foods to quest givers, drinking beer/wine/tea, eating peppered food, making butter, etc.

I'm on the fence about this idea, it may be benefitial to the game in the long run but I can also see some problems coming with it
let's see what other ppl have to say, I guess

It'd be nice if you elaborated.

a major downside that I can see is that would seriously buff cooking which isn't necessarily a good thing IMO
but idk maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture?

If a cooking credo doesn't buff cooking then I'd argue there's something significantly more wrong. I think the problem related to cooking is more of the feasting aspect. Cooking itself is not the offender, at least, I don't see how it could be.

Please note, I am not a cook!

honestly, to compare with some of the things that the credos are able to do, i could see the Cook Credo doing something with FEPS. Not saying i want it, just that i can see it leaning that way.

what i would suggest would be benefits like these:
slight quality boost to cooked foods
+# to cooking skill
Special Recipe that fills 500-1000% energy with low hunger impact and no FEPs (i know that Butter porridge fits some of these)
Special recipies that use roasted meats (great for clearing out the stockpiles of old food)
+# bonus to cooking related stat (dex, per, etc)
+bonus to Charisma (with quests to light bonfires)

Since most of these are bonuses to two stats and then 3 other useful things, one being a more general bonus for overall use, I've figured it'd be +cooking, +perception for the stats. The bonuses might be something to do with a small chance for increase in quantity of items produced, small buff to quality (maybe +10, which at this point is near meaningless for a lot of items), and maybe a cauldron bonus (as something generally useful).

Let's not encourage adding anything more to FEPs or feasting. It's already way too easy to super grind attributes.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

they might want to focus down the credo to something more specific then just catch-all cook. Like the Baker or something along those lines.

i could see cook as a base credo after foraging to encompass any food that does not require an extra skill. afterwards you could split between baker and sausagemaker
