fish soup

in case you dont believe me, this is a thing in real life.

http://allrecipes.com/recipes/16407/sou ... fish-soup/

so why can't it be a thing in game? in real life the fins are used for the stock, we could use fishy eyeballs in the game for it. think about it, 2 fish meat 2 salad greens and 1 fishy eyeball. +4 int and +3 con feps in addition to what the fish and greens give. needs a cauldron.

buff? nerf? change recipe? throw criticism at me.

Would be a great thing if we knew how we wanted to handle soups relative to the food system otherwise.

It would be nice if there could be a special cauldron for soups. You add water and bones/fish/tubers/mushrooms and wait an hour or two for it to become broth. Then, you can add ingredients (make recipes that call for a certain broth, veggies, meat, etc), and it could have the same cooking function as a spit roast. You can either stand by it and stir OR let it sit and cook slowly. The animation could just be the stirring motion already set in place. ;)

The broth would be a nice thing to give energy, but a very low FEP (since it's not very nourishing) and satiate meat/veg/fish/etc, depending on what type.

Also, it would give the kuksa a nice late-game use! Especially because you can't really drink a chunky soup out of a waterflask...
So, broth can be in any container, but full soups would need to be in a proper cup or bowl to be edible. :)

And with the addition of pepper as a requirement, it would make soups more of a late-game food - especially since soups are a very time-consuming food IRL.

And here's some nice soup ideas!
-fish/oyster chowder (fish fillets/oyster, fish broth, potato [we need to add potatoes to the game :D ], milk, onion, pepper)
--possible FEPs: constitution, will, strength

-beef stew (cow/wild beef, beef/veggie broth, tubers, onion, pepper)
--possible FEPs: constitution, strength, charisma

-beef and barley soup (cow/wild beef, beef broth, barley, pepper)
--possible FEPs: charisma, constitution, will

-mushroom and tuber stew (edible mushrooms, veggie broth, tubers, onion, pepper)
--possible FEPs: psyche, will, charisma

-chicken veggie soup (cooked chicken, chicken/veggie broth, tubers, onion, barley, pepper)
--possible FEPs: dexterity, constitution

-wild game stew (chicken, rabbit, squirrel, any broth, potato, pepper)
--possible FEPs: agility, dexterity, intelligence

That's just a few, but it would be really nice to have implemented!!

Thanks for the consideration!!!

i just wanted to point out this complete load of bullshit. a proper soup stock requires many veggies bones ect to make, the flavor and vitamins seep out into the broth. and bone marrow is phenominally healthy. one could argue that since no bones are in fish soup, that broth in particular isnt too healthy, but anything with loads of bones and veggies is.

Soups could just work as liquids that you could drink. When you drink it, you gain fep points, energy and satiety and penalties.
For fish soup, the fep you get would depend on what fish you use and so on.

Well, I wasn't saying a proper stock. I was saying a basic soup stock, so...   Mr. Snippy.
And when you think of caloric intake, a broth isn't going to sustain you properly. Maybe I put it the wrong way...
Good FEP, low energy?

So, thanks for the info, even if the delivery was shitty. ;)

Or then soup could be sued as an appetizer, to boost the gains from the following food in the session.

or then soup could be some good generic food to replenish energy without wasting your satiation bar. Food for the poorest of hearthlings.

Similar to what some others have suggested. Soup could work somewhat like the beverages. But instead of boosting certain satiations, they could boost specific FEPs depending on the soup. Also a bit of energy restoration would be baller as well!

I love soups and stews, so I'm all about it!

The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”
