A nutty Idea

Postby Vassteel » Thu Jan 25, 2018 8:14 am

So Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Chestnuts, and Almonds are types of nuts that usually arent picked from the tree itself. These nuts are usualy foraged off the ground around from the tree or shaken from the tree in industrial situations.

heres an example of walnuts on the ground.

So the idea is instead of picking these nuts straight from the tree itself these nuts spawn on the ground around their type of tree (Animals and birds might steal and eat them as well).
the idea is since trees reseeding is based on decay this might be an option to bypass that system and just have that tree type spawn stuff kinda like how only certian trees spawn mistletoe

And also Nut stockpiles Big piles o Nuts :D

Also Maple Syrup production. 1block to construct a peg thats hammered into a mature tree. place a bucket on the peg to collect sap which is then boiled to produce the syrup.

i like the idea of tree juice being collected, similar to wax or honey on beehives. really wanted to post this for a while, so all up for it, but if this become a thing, please don't forget about birch tree juice as well, as its been a thing for a very long time in russia. birch juice is used as a drink (no need to turn it into syrup like maple juice to make it consumable), also used to heal scraps and internal wounds.

would also be cool to collect resin and gum from the trees in a similar fashion.

Gathering various forms of saps would be neat, and we have support for equipping to trees now, so it could probably be done.
