Archery Hunting

Postby fuffens1 » Thu Jan 25, 2018 1:47 pm

Hey people, this is my first post so im sorry in advance if I in anyway break a rule or repeat what others spam about.
I've played haven on and off for 4 years and i've sunk some time into world 10 now. My question is, would the game be too easy if animals like Moose or Deer acted more like real life when getting shot from a bow or sling? I just find it sad that hunting animals is mainly done by horseback and melee. Getting them to flee then chasing them down quickly. IMO it would be way more engaging if animals where shy of players(much like the Lynx) and you'd have to level stealth to get close enough to get a shot, the animal would then run away and stop further away, forcing the hearthling to track the beast down to repeat the process. This would give even peaceful players a reason to level stealth(and actually use bow and arrow instead of melee which seems to be better in every way ), it would stop cliff and boat cheesing (which in my opinion is super silly and feels like an abuse which has become a feature), it would take some skill as a player and it would be more immersive :D I understand that implementing something like this aint no easy task, but id like to know if the devs plan to make something like this a thing in the future or if its already in the works. Have a good day, thanks for a good game!
Animal behavior could certainly improve. Beatings will continue until it does. - jorb, January 2018.

id support it. im tired of people calling bows worthless. i was thinking the same thing about stealth recently. it would make hunters a more valuable position too.
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.

Yeah I have also suggested this some times already, and yes would be cool:

Make friends with the other crabs or try to escape the bucket.

I checked the thread out and it seems you said the same things i wanted said but in a better way! :D Im so happy im not alone in this, hopefully the devs hear us out ^^ I also would like to add that while I appreciate the "bleeding out mechanic" that applies when you've shot 2 arrows into the animal i feel like its suuuuch a hassle to run after the fleeing animal while risking the animal randomly(????) aggroing you again resulting in you getting ko'ed if it isnt a boar :D

+1 to this.
Furthermore, I would love to see some animals instantly flee the player upon aggroing, instead of pathfinding to the player to fight.

Yeah the thing is I think we should get rid off the "attack command" ... that's the main problem, causing many exploits, etc... we should not be able to do whatever we want with animals, bring them where we want, etc... at least should require a bit more effort than just a click on them and a boat.
