Swimming is too easy.

There should be a random chance to get cramps while swimming, resulting in inability to tread water, and thus, drowning.

Would give reasons to use the silver ring that saves you from drowning, BUT, its way too unforgiving to new chars who actually depend on swimming to get around and wouldn't really become a tax on older chars as they can afford hundreds of rings without doing as much as a dent o their silver stocks.

Good idea.
Swimming over small streams and rivers would probably not drown you, but for longer distances there would be a chance.

Isn't random cramps while swimming just a massive myth? Wouldn't mind more swimming hazards, I guess, but not sure I like it random. As is it is always very much your own fault if you get into trouble while swimming.

People don't shit themselves and die the instant they cramp, it's mostly a moment of discomfort. Why do you post this many of these threads?

They're a thing under three situations:

Extreme cold. Too much food recently eaten. Lack of potassium.

Cramping is very real but it's mostly uncomfortable. You will not drown due to them, you'll complain.
