The sheer lenght of the game

Postby WarlordToby » Wed Feb 07, 2018 6:22 pm

Hi there.

I am WarlordToby. I started playing this game a rough week ago with my friends Joe, Wizard, Grinch and Prod and surely got more plans to bring three more. However;
We are rather displeaced by the fact things take so long in this game. We love the fact you spawn to this world with basically nothing on you and that cutting trees is time consuming just like gathering materials and building houses is.

What really bothers me, us all, is the fact that many things can take hours. Heck, even days or weeks. To get to things, you are forced to go far and wide just to find things like, for example, bough. We agree that heavy labor things should take long but are absolutely disgusted by the fact that earning XP and LP takes so terribly long just like making charcoal, growing crops and basically everything. We skipped the entire "getting clothed" phase since we just happened to find some metals.

Just some background about our stuff; We have played for few days but never found a place to settle UNTIL now. We have been threatened for small things such as "blocking a road" (Got a warning from two high-tier russian players and forced us to leave half-built settlements behind) and we find it incredibly unfair that it is hard to match them. It would take us months of playtime, even if there are many of us, simply because they have had time to put to this game and to create high-quality equipment. We can't even beat simple wilderness animals, no matter how much we would try. There are guides about tricking the animals and whatnot but that seems bit off and well, less realistic and rather stupid way to solve things those should be easier in the first place.

TL;DR
Lowering all process times would be better. Allowing one to get more XP and LP in quicker time. Studying should be faster. Things are too spread around i.e small amounts are offered. Also, a small note; How about stacking things like branches? You can actually carry a huge pile of branches if you just stacked them instead of just, eh, carrying them in their invidual inventory space.

Instant gratification is not part of the game. there is parts of the game that you can get done quickly, other things take upwards of 3 weeks to deal with. if you want boughs closer, plant a grove of bough producing trees near your base. if you dont like that coal takes 3 days to make, then make several kilns and rotate the feeding of them so that you are getting coal every day.

you will have to deal with people. it's a pvp game.

as for carrying a crapton of sticks, put them in a stockpile and load them into a wheelbarrow. boom! no issues with inventory space.

I get what you mean there, but it still frustates ALL OF US considering we may be constantly snowballed around by the high-tier players. We have no claim as LP takes forever to get and even more so, growing it is super expensive. We are constantly prone to someone stealing from us AND IT HAS HAPPENED FEW TIMES ALREADY.

My friend and the town elder Joe mentioned this game on a Discord channel when we discussed MMO games to play. I dug into this and frankly, I liked it.
Me, being a big man of community, attracted many others with me.

Speeding things up for you will also speed things up for those high-tier players.

Instead I suggest you look into ways to do things faster in the game, and I'm not being sarcastic. Everything does seem slow as hell at first but there are many ways to do things faster or more efficient. For example, higher quality drying racks are faster. Higher quality shovels dig more units of soil per digging.

Another thing which many new players miss for quite some time are the shortcuts to mass move items between different inventory screens in a single click, definitely look into these.

You will be better when you have claim and palisade wall. Item in inventory of offline character can not be steal. Use this to store important item like leather or bone glue until you will need it.

We understand what you mean though I'd imagine higher tier players would, instead of mass producing equipment for their group, would attempt to go for excellency.
Not only would speeding up help us catch up, it would help us beat even the easiest animals. We have failed to kill bats and ants already so...

Supposedly, sure. We got no trouble with the PvP aspect other than the fact it favors those who started earlier. Expecially those who have higher base stats and attributes. I hear talk about 100 unarmed whereas we all got around 1 to 7. We just try to catch up with the others by learning things to craft etc. We stopped after a while when we realized town claim requires insane amounts of LP and that everyone has to have it.

It is incredibly frustating for us, considering how weak we are compared to literally everyone else and EVERYTHING else. We fail to kill animals and if you pick up hedgehogs or crabs too many times, you die. Doesn't make entirely much sense to receive 18 damage from hedgehog spikes. Doesn't make entirely sense to fail a battle against an ant army. Doesn't make entirely sense to get so easily beaten by animals.

Took me a while to get used the old version of the game. This was much easier. Hedhogs are best caught if you have gloves on (1 leather 1 animal skin).

Up your exploration and survival a bunch early on so you get better q herbs and can see more of them plus masonry for better clay. Get these basic skills up so you can see more to do more.
