Change 'Wildgoat' and 'Wildhorse'

Postby Blueberry » Fri Feb 23, 2018 3:42 am

From wikipedia: "The most recent genetic analysis confirms the archaeological evidence that the wild Bezoar ibex of the Zagros Mountains is the likely original ancestor of probably all domestic goats today."

"The name "tarpan" or "tarpani" is from a Turkic language (Kazakh or Kyrgyz) name meaning "wild horse".....In modern use, the term has been loosely used to refer to the predomesticated ancestor of the modern horse."

Just a slight change, but I think it'd be a nice one that would go along well with mouflons and aurochs.

not a big fan of this idea. the game is mostly in english to my knowledge, and all you want it to say the exact same thing in another language?

is there a precedent for this?
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.

Well mouflon is a French word from the Italian muflone. Lots of words in any language are borrowed from other languages.

hafen feels like it'sin a world of its own. wild goat/horse feels a little lazy compared to aurochs and mouflon

but every other animal has english names. only those 2 out of... like 10 have different names. i would like ibex more than wildgoat. im indifferent on tarpan but has character

Tarpan I love, actually. I did consider Ibex when doing the research, but I am not overly excited about latin. French I think can be excused as more Germanic.

Will consider, in any event!

I put ibex into google translate and got the german word steinbock. Could use that.

Does anyone else have a name suggestion?
