Fish trap

It would have durability based on quality, and will gather fish very slowly, like 1 per hour, and hold 10 fish, and they can only be placed on fish nodes, and only 1 per node.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

bob dole, you should know that this has been suggested a million times before.

id like to see trotlines that always net us 1x3 fish.

I think a net is something new, you could drag it around with a boat, or just throw at some distance

oh yeah, forgot to mention, but we really need more uses for fish before we can justify more ways to get them. as it stands, people dont eat fish pies since they give intellect and other fish recipes have the fish dragging down the quality really far. i can get say, q300-400 bread and end up with a q180-220 roast roach wrap.

Sounds more like the runaway qualities should be reduced instead.

i could not disagree more. the pursuit of artificial worth is what makes games like this fun. if anything we need a way to raise fish qualities to match.

doles idea is different, i said to only be able to place on fish nodes

I agree Synaris, fish need some way to remain relevant past the very early game. Granger, I don't understand your argument here. Fish absolutely suck overall and drag down all their associated recipes, there isn't any runaway situation here at all, but a system of diminishing returns that is further reduced by low quality feeeeeeeeesh.

Fish need something to let them remain relevant later in game, though I don't think bulk-catching game mechanics is it. Bulk fishing is already very easy to someone who has wasted enough time mapping out particular fish and their lures/cycles. Make the feeeeeeeeeeeeeesh more valuable, and people will put in the effort to more thoroughly figure out the lures and times for different fish. Making the feeeeeeeeeesh easier to catch but not any better won't entice people to bother fishing any more than they currently are.
